moon formation happens slowly. a planet spinning through space draws smaller particles by gravitation. a good example of this is saturn's rings. the particles of space dust that make up the bands are drawn into larger bodies by gravitation. think of it like a katamari collecting space dust until you pick up all the dust and make a moon. solar systems are made the same way. they start as bands around a star. this all takes a long time. time is gnarly.

tonight we talked about geology.
some had answers. some did not.
jim was in the former category.
jim is awesome.
i watched john try to envision a billion years of erosion.
how ambitious!
a girl said that jim walked home! thats far.
buffalo is flat because its on delta. old delta.
get a grasp on time, folks. its important.
this is a little drunken. ill probably delete it when i see it.
then hopefull i will give you a good thought
linking solar system and moon formation.

ETERNITY UNIVERSE
AFFECTIONATELY FEATURING
KIRSTEN DUNST
READING SAGAN
ETERNITY UNIVERSE WOULD LIKE TO THANK
THE LOVELY DANA PASSARIELLA
FOR KNOWING WHICH CELEBRITIES
I HAVE CRUSHES ON
AND ALERTING ME TO ANY PICTURES
THAT SHE FINDS ON THE TABLOID SITES
THAT I MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN VIEWING
AND ALSO SUGGESTING THAT
KIRSTEN DUNST IS KEEPING TRACK
OF MY READING LIST
AND IS PROBABLY PRETTY INTO ME
also i edited that last post
cause it was lame
sorry for that

"The astronomer Sir William Huggins frightened the world in 1910. He was minding his own business, doing astronomy, but as a result of his astronomy (the work I'm talking about was done in the last third of the nineteenth century) there were national panics in Japan, in Russia, in much of the southern and midwestern United States. A hundred thousand people in the pajamas emerged onto the roofs of Constantinople. The pope issued a statement condemning the hoarding of cylinders of oxygen in Rome. And there were people all over the world who committed suicide. All because of Sir William Huggins's work..."
~Sagan
During this time, was talk of the possibility of the earth travelling through the tail of Halley's Comet. Huggins used a spectrometer to analyze the chemical quality of the comet. He found bands indicating C2, NH3, NH2, and CN. CN is cyanide. Astronomers tried to tell poeple that it wasn't clear that we would pass through the tail, and if we did there would be such low concentration of CN that everything would be fine. But nobody believed astronomers.

ERNST HAECKEL
Ernst was a prolific scientist.
He drew amazing pictures from his travels.
The diversity of the Canary Islands proves beautiful and amazing.
He seemed fixated on symmetry expecially radial symmetry.
He is also famous for his theory of recapitulation, where
ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.
Or maybe it was the other way around, i think thats it though.
At the time there was a lot of ideas shooting around,
but in light of modern science it seems a little silly to me.
A miss of the target but genius anyway.

THE NATURE OF THE EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE
the clouds have always travelled backward.
they go in reverse.
they are lying jerks.
that is why i did not include them in this picture.
ETERNITY UNIVERSE
i was just kidding about the clouds.
but it got me thinking
and reminded me of something i read.
its nothing that can be studied very well,
but its a thought i read.
it has to do with the universe someday contracting
just as it seems to be expanding now.
it is the idea that time as we percieve it
goes forward
and that time
as the universe contracts will go backward.
(ive never carried this thought any farther
but lets see where it goes.)
so everything that happens as the universe expands
happens again, as the universe contracts,
in reverse.
could you imagine being concious,
living life in reverse?
starting life with death.
ending life with birth.
all of this being totally normal
because its all you know.
what if at any moment
the universe reverses its direction
and i type this backwarddrawkcab siht epyt i dna
HAHA JUST KDDING ITS STILL GOING THE SAME WAY
sometime soon i'll explain this other wierd thing about
the nature
of the expansion
of the universe

eternity universe
eternity universe blog is nothing special. but the actual universe is really gnarly.
these are the four perfect solids. all of their sides are made of identical polygons. pythagoras was a bit of a mystic. he was really into these. he was super psyched on these things. hes the guy that gets credit for a^2+b^3=c^2, but it was probly one of his folowers who figured it out or something. some accounts make this all sound like a math cult. the old pythagorean math cult. this is only 4 of these perfect solids. they thought they were so important, like they were intrinsic to the geometry of the universe and the planets perfectly circular orbits. they strongly linked these solids to the "4 elements"- earth water fire wind.
theres another one though. its the dodecahedron. the fifth element. for some reason they mistrusted this shape, so they tried to keep it a secret like it was evil. it was scary and bad to them. i went ahead and boldly blasted this shape right here in the eternity universe blog. look at if if you want. it doesnt have an effect on me but, dude maybe they were right about this thing. im not trying to sound braver than pythagoras, but it doesnt scare me.
